The dictionary defines Community as a unified body of individuals or a group of people with a common characteristic or interest living together within a larger society. Service is defined as an act of assistance or benefit. Therefore, Community Service is simply defined as services volunteered by individuals or an organization to benefit a community. 

The Expanding Visions Foundation believes in serving the community and giving back to those who need it the most.  Service to the community is one of the founding principles of our organization.  We reinforce this principle in our young people and our mentors by participating in community service projects throughout the greater Columbus area. These projects are facilitated through our various alliances and partnerships with local community organizations. We believe that many of us would not be where we are in life without people serving the community in some capacity.  The Expanding Visions Foundation and all our members are always willing and ready to do our part to serve. 

So what have we done?

	Working as a Team  Some of our young people and mentors teamed up to work on a project packing sweet potatoes at the Mid Ohio Food Bank. Each potato was individually inspected and packaged. These potatoes were given to families in need throughout the mid Ohio region.
Supporting Worthy Causes  Members of EVF including mentees, mentors, parents, staff, and board members participated in the American Heart Association Annual Heart Walk. We joined together with others in the community to support and recognize everyone who has been affected by heart disease.
Making a Difference in People's Lives  EVF teamed up to pack care box for needy families. These boxes were given to families so they would be able to enjoy a healthy holiday meal.  In less than 3 hours we were able to pack 1241 boxes (current Mid Ohio Food Bank record).  We are proud of the fact that because of our effort over 1200 families were able to enjoy a nice holiday meal.
