Programs and Services
In order to achieve our goals and accomplish our mission, the Expanding Visions Foundation offers several programs and services to our young people and their families. These programs and services include the following:
- Group Mentoring Sessions (First and Third Saturdays 9-11 a.m.)
Mentoring sessions include lectures from guest speakers as well as members of the organization. These sessions are open to all students, sixth grade and up. Dress codes are strictly enforced at all meetings.
- Brian J. Moore Career Institute
The Career Institute is an 8-week program for active EVF students age 15 on up. In the program, the students are taught about interviewing, researching companies, resume writing and how to be a stellar employee upon employment. Read more by clicking on the Career Institute link.
- College Tours
One to two times a year, EVF sends a small group of students and mentors off to visit colleges and universities in different parts of the country. Through generous donations, we are able provide an enriching opportunity for young people to see first hand what the college experience is all about.
- Community Service Projects
EVF believes in serving others. Therefore, our students and mentors take part in various community service projects within the area. This is a valuable experience for our young people who learn the value of giving back to the community and serving.
- Monthly Parent Meetings
This is a forum for parents to interact with one another and stay informed of all the EVF activities. Any issues and concerns are address during this forum.
- Monthly Mentor Meetings
This is a forum for mentors to interact with one another and stay informed of all the EVF activities. Any issues and concerns are address during this forum.
- Mentor Training Classes
Realizing that mentoring young people can be challenging, EVF mentors are required to take a training course to help them become more effective mentors.
- Career Fair
The Career Fair is a networking and job search opportunity for our young people. Employers and members of the community are invited to this event to speak with young people and share information about their organization. Students who are serious about pursuing careers are given an opportunity to see several options.
